Essential Information for New Students

Scheduling

Lessons can be booked on a Flexible Schedule (can cancel / re-schedule with 24 hours notice)

OR lessons can be booked on a Fixed Schedule (no / limited cancellations or re-scheduling)

Flexible and fixed schedules carry different fees which can be seen here.

Lessons time is counted and charged from the beginning of the time booked, so please arrive on time.

Lessons cancelled with less than a full 24 hours notice will be charged / deducted.  This includes re-scheduling a lesson or changing the time at short notice. See full info here.

All lessons must be paid in advance

(bookings are not completed and written in the diary until payment has been received)

Materials

All students must bring their own oil painting materials.

The essentials are as follows:

oil paints (Georgian / Winton or any artist quality)

lemon yellow

cadmium yellow

cadmium red

permanent rose / rose madder (quinacridone)

French ultramarine / ultramarine blue

phthalo blue / primary cyan

titanium white (large tube)

permanent alizarin crimson

viridian hue (not genuine viridian) / phthalo green

bottles

linseed stand oil (must be stand oil, not refined linseed oil)

thinner, such as Jackson's Puresol low odour solvent, Zest-it, Cass Art oil paint dilutant, or artists' turpentine

other items

set of palette knives

pad of oil painting paper (Georgian or Winton) - A4 size or larger

Brushes are available for use at the studio to begin with, then a recommended list will be given.
