Tutor's Education
I had an unusual journey as an art student, spending almost eight years on art courses or at art school between 1989 and 2001, doing one year of A-level Art, a two-year BTEC National Diploma in Design (specialising in Fine Art), one year of a part-time Fine Art Degree and almost four years on a full-time Fine Art Degree course.
In 2001 I graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art.
Experience as a Tutor
I have been tutoring oil painting on a one-to-one basis since 2005, teaching people of many different backgrounds, interests and ages. Students have ranged in ability from absolute beginners to more experienced and advanced painters. Some of my students have been coming to me for years and are now fully-fledged artists in their own right.
I have also run a few painting classes for more experienced painters at a local college and have experience of running a life drawing class for all levels from beginners to advanced.
Artist
I began painting in acrylics in 1990 / 1991 when in my late teens, but very quickly moved onto oils. In addition to portraits, I also work on my own more imaginative paintings.
