Why Learn Online?

Due to distance or time constraints, sometimes the only way to receive lessons may be to connect online.  This is obviously not quite the same as working together in person, but it does have some definite benefits, such as convenience and, in the case of email tutorials, a written record of feedback and instructions that can be referred to many times.

Email Tutorials or Lessons via Skype? 

Email tutorials are perfect for those who are already painting and want feedback and guidance on their work, however beginners can also learn via email with guided lessons to get them up and running.  Skype lessons are appropriate for anyone at any level, but does require a little more setting up so that your painting and palette can be seen clearly enough to receive guidance as you are painting.

Why Online Lessons?

Sometimes it can be difficult to have lessons in person due to distance or inability to travel.

Modern technology now allows us to communicate, as though in person, from anywhere with anequate internet connection.

Who Can Have Online Lessons? 

Skype lessons are appropriate for anyone undertaking oil painting, wishing to receive guidance and advice, whether absolute beginner or more advanced.  Skype lessons are available throughout the UK, to anyone with a good internet connection and access to Skype, Zoom or similar platform.

What Will Online Lessons Contain? 

Lessons are in the form of guided painting to develop painting skills and conversational tutorials, to provide feedback on paintings and advice on materials and techniques.  

Are There Any Limitations To Online Lessons?

Seeing a painting on a screen is obviously not quite the same as seeing the actual thing, as colour and tone will vary a little.  However, a clear image can still be seen providing good lighting is set up.  Online lessons will never be quite the same as lessons in person, but can nevertheless be of great benefit to anyone wanting guidance with their painting.  Some very successful paintings have been accomplished via my online lessons.

Fees & Booking

Online lessons can be paid for in one of three ways:

a) 1 hour of online tuition paid in advance - £50.00

b) 5 hours of online tuition paid in advance - £250.00

c) 10 hours of online tuition paid in advance - £475.00 (£38.00 per hour)

Internet Connection 

A good speed internet connection will be needed.  Sometimes internet connection can be lost, when this happens any remaining time paid for will be kept in credit to be used at the next available session.

Sometimes it can be very valuable to receive feedback and advice on how to improve your paintings or how to move forward.  Where in-person lessons are not possible, email tutorials can be an excellent way of receiving much needed advice.  And every piece of advice is written and recorded for you to refer back to as many times as needed.

Who Can Have Email Tutorials? 

Email tutorials are appropriate for anyone undertaking oil painting wishing to receive guidance and advice, whether absolute beginner or more advanced.  The email tutorials are available worldwide to anyone with a reasonable grasp of the English language.

What Will An Email Tutorial Contain? 

Each tutorial will consist of 300-400 words in the form of a critique in response to images of your oil paintings and / or answers to specific questions and step-by-step guidance on how to improve certain aspects of your oil painting.  

Tutorials will be carefully considered to provide constructive criticism as well as advice on techniques in a sensible sequence.

Fees & Booking

Email tutorials can be paid for in one of three ways:

a) 1 email tutorial in advance - £50.00

b) 5 email tutorials in advance - £237.50 (£47.50 per tutorial)

c) 10 email tutorials in advance - £462.50 (£46.25 per tutorial)

The tutorials are considered to be booked once payment is complete, at which point images of oil paintings and / or questions can be sent to:

Please try to send good quality images.  Videos can also be useful to show details.  

Imagine you have never seen the actual painting - would the pictures or videos give you a clear view of the painting?

The clearer the images / videos, the more precise the email tutorial can be.
